History and Location
Allen Middle School is located in southern Guilford County and opened in 1968 as Allen Junior High School. The school was named for Arch Turner Allen, a distinguished North Carolina scholar and state superintendent for public instruction from 1923 to 1943. Under the present leadership of Dr. Shelia Gorham, Allen serves approximately 700 students in grades six through eight. Its primary feeder schools are Alderman, Archer, Frazier, Murphy and Vandalia.
